It has already sought to do so through an ongoing campaign of fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD) to discredit all herbs. We saw that with Ephedra, which is the "ma huang" herb used in traditional Chinese medicine. This herb has been used safely for thousands of years, and yet the FDA banned it as an isolated phytochemical even though the very same compound remains perfectly legal in the over-the-counter medicine called Sudafed.
The FDA claims to have banned Ephedra, but that's not what actually happened. All it did was ban the Ephedra herb, not the Ephedra molecule. |

However, the other herbs in this formula you could just plain take them because let's say you're an athlete. You want more energy. You travel a lot and you need more stamina. It's not just about the sex because sex isn't an isolated dimension of life. The brain is the most sensitive sex organ in the whole body. If your brain isn't in good shape, whatever is happening down below is not going to be pretty.
These things enhance brain function, cardiovascular function, immunity and much more. |

Patients often make the mistake of thinking that herbs must be safe because they're natural. But some herbs have adverse reactions when used with certain drugs. And drugs can inhibit the effectiveness of some herbal formulations. Your N.D., who may be prescribing herbs, needs to know what your M.D., who may be prescribing drugs, is doing, and vice versa. An informed treatment team is an effective treatment team.
Sometimes even the smartest patient simply cannot understand some aspect of treatment. You might feel foolish asking, or asking again—and again. |

The use of some herbs, especially as part of a 'detoxifying' protocol, may exacerbate a patient's condition at the onset of treatment.7 Also, critical and objective evidence regarding the use of herbal medicines in certain scenarios such as pregnancy is lacking. Most information in this area comes from anecdotal and historical sources, the importance of which has yet to be investigated.30
Worthless Procedures
The final category is the delivery of worthless procedures for financial or other gains on the part of the practitioner. |
These dosage forms have advantages of: containing both alcohol and aqueous soluble components; and allowing prescribers to combine herbs. As with herbal teas, poor palatability is often a problem.
A glycerite is a 'tincture-like' product in which glycerin is used as a solvent. They appear particularly useful in the management of pediatric conditions or where alcohol is strictly contraindicated.
Solid Dosage Forms
Herbal medicines are available in a range of solid doses, including capsules, tablets, freeze-dried products and lozenges. |
The English herbalist Gerard described the aroma produced by this plant with the following phrase, "for the smell thereof makes the heart merry, delighteth the senses; neither doth it cause headache, or loathsomeness to meat, as some other sweet smelling herbs do."4 The term "Spiraea," used in a former binomial name, comes from the fact that the fruits have a twisted appearance.3 Established growths of meadowsweet often completely dominate the marshy areas in which they grow, making another common name, Queen of the Meadow, very appropriate. |

J Maitake, shiitake, and reishi mushrooms possess beta-1,3-D-glucan, a type of polysaccharide that stimulates the immune cells. Their immune-boosting power makes them essential for fighting the flu.
Q Olive leaf extract enhances immune function and fights all types of infection, including the flu virus.
Q Wild pansy tea can treat colds accompanied by fever and respiratory congestion.
Q For cough and sore throat, mix 1 tablespoon of slippery elm bark powder with 1 cup of boiling water and V2 cup honey. Take 1 teaspoon of this mixture every three to four hours. |
Recommendations
Q Be sure to cook all your food until it is tender. Poaching and steaming are good methods of cooking to retain moisture.
Q Cut your food into very small pieces—or, if necessary, grind or puree it. This will cause less irritation to the throat. Be sure to chew your food well before swallowing.
Q Use frozen popsicles, ice cream, yogurt, and sherbet to soothe a sore throat.
Q Avoid eating foods that are spicy, hot, salty, or acidic. These can be irritating to the throat. |

Lungwort leaves are rich in vitamin C and quercetin and make an effective treatment for coughs and mucus.
Q Thyme strengthens the lung tissue. It can be used for children with lung ailments.
Q Omega-3 fatty acids are clearly associated with a reduction in chronic bronchitis.
Recommendations
Q Include garlic and onions in your diet. These foods contain quercetin and mustard oils, which have been shown to inhibit lipoxygenase, an enzyme that aids in releasing an inflammatory chemical in the body. Garlic is also a natural antibiotic.
Q Drink plenty of fluids. |

Concerns have been raised regarding the small quantity of herbs often present in these dosage forms.
Standardized Extract
A standardized extract is a product in which a specific concentration of a particular constituent or group of constituents is guaranteed. While all the original constituents may still be present, they are often not in the proportions found in the original herb. While this approach is attractive to the conventional medical model, it is dependent on the existence, extraction and identification of a discrete single (or group of) active constituent(s). |

Another U.S. patent was awarded for an herbal combination for females, with inventors reporting that damiana could "relieve anxiety, depression, headaches during menstruation, and exhaustion. Damiana also helps to balance female hormone levels and control hot flashes."8 A 1998 in vitro clinical study reported that components in damiana bound to progesterone receptors in cultured human breast cancer cells, leading researchers to surmise that it had a neutral or anti-estrogenic activity.9
Central nervous system depressant activity has been attributed to damiana and verified by research. |

On December 22, 2001 the proposed new regulations governing the manufacture, packaging, labeling, storage, importation, distribution and sale of natural health products (including herbs) in Canada were published in Canada Gazette Part I,4 as the first step in the implementation of new statutory regulations. The new regulations are part of the current Food and Drugs Act, but are specific to NHPs, effectively identifying them as a category distinct from foods and drugs. Requirements apply to all persons who sell NHPs, namely manufacturers, distributors, importers, packagers and labelers. |

These are herbs with a potency rarely found in the supplements industry. The Kavazon Liquizon product, for example, which is made with Kava, tingles and then slightly numbs your tongue. That's how you know it's the real deal. You can easily taste the medicinal bitters in Recovazon (one of my favorite products) or the wholesome intensity of Una de Gato.
Whether it's Chinese herbs or rainforest botanicals, I prefer to taste the medicine I'm taking. But you may not want to (most westerners, who eat far too much sugar, find these herbs to be extremely bitter). |

The forms of the nutrients used in LivingFuel Rx Super Greens are the expensive, premium forms. For example, vitamin B-12 is present as methylcobalamin (the good form) rather than cyanocobalamin (the cheap form). Coenzyme Q10 is also present at 25mg per serving, and LivingFuel Rx Super Greens even delivers grape seed, skin and stem extracts containing resveratrol (which are outstanding for heart health). |

Today, the FDA says it won't be attacking natural health clinics, breaking down doors with armed agents and arresting the healers inside. The quiet, behind-closed-doors practice of using medicinal herbs, homeopathic remedies, nutritional supplements or even Bach Flower Remedies will be tolerated... for now. |

I was at a professional conference a few months ago where an associate professor of medicine at UCLA was talking about herbs for cancer. One of her comments that really struck me was she said, "You know, with herbs there's such a wide margin of safety that I really recommend that all physicians should integrate herbs with their medical practice."
Mike: That's quite a statement coming from an MD.
Frank: Yes it is. |

Mike: Yes. The ginger especially, as you mentioned before.
Lovejoy: Ginger is one of my favorites.
Mike: Aloe vera is one of my favorite herbs, or foods, of all time. I think it's one of the most underrated herbs out there. Why did you decide to put it in? |

It's been around for a long time as a basic antiviral drug, but in my research I've found that there are many other antiviral herbs and substances that are far more powerful than Tamiflu, that don't require a prescription and are much more affordable.
For example, I did a report on a product from Baseline Nutritionals called Super Viragon. It's made of powerful antiviral herbs. I've also created a free report called "Beat the Bird Flu virus" that lists the top antiviral vitamins, minerals, nutritional supplements, medicinal herbs, amino acids and products. |

Oregano (1) is a warmth-loving perennial herb which grows on sunny banks, dry meadows and clearings from lowland to mountain elevations. It has a woody rhizome and reddish, hairy, four-angled stem just over half a metre in height. The leaves are opposite, short-stalked and ovate, larger at the bottom of the stem than towards the top. |

Cinnamon has a similar effect, as do many other herbs. These medicinal plants have been used for thousands of years to support human health. It is only in the last 75 years or so that western medicine has gained power over the industry and surreptitiously declared that all of the medicinal herbs used for thousands of years throughout human history are now suddenly inert or harmful. |

It's called Herbal Aloe Force and it combines raw aloe vera gel with a potent combination of anti-cancer herbs including cat's claw, "Essiac" herbs and astragalus. I'm not sure yet if there's any of the aloe vera leaf sap found in this formula (I'm working on finding that out), and that's important because I like to avoid the leaf sap and just eat the gel. In any case, I immediately recognized it as a highly medicinal cancer-busting formula that I know would be extremely helpful in preventing or treating various forms of cancer. |

I'll be writing a lot more about Amazon herbs in the next day or two, so come back to read more about that if you want to learn about which herbs and herbal products are best at removing toxins from your liver (and restoring healthy liver function).
In my opinion, there is no such thing as a cancer recovery without a healthy, functioning liver. So start with supporting the liver. Isn't it interesting to note that chemotherapy -- which is still somehow accepted as the mainstream treatment for cancer -- is extremely toxic to the liver? |
