Although it is unclear whether these herbs and supplements are helpful, there is no evidence of potential harm.
As noted earlier, fatty foods can increase the symptoms of dyspepsia. Patients with IBS commonly can't tolerate a number of foods, including milk, wheat, eggs, and fresh fruits and vegetables. IBS patients do not, however, have a greater lactase deficiency (the enzyme that digests dairy products) or inability to absorb sugars (like fructose) when measured in the laboratory, although they may have more symptoms when exposed to these compounds outside the lab. |
Alternative Medicines
Patients suffering from gastrointestinal disorders like IBS, FD, and GERD commonly self-medicate with a number of herbs, supplements, and food products. For example, constipation is often treated with herbal therapies that stimulate secretion of fluids into the bowel and muscular contraction of the intestines, the most common of which include senna, cascara, aloe vera, and rhubarb root. One small study of thirty-five patients showed that aloe vera combined with celandin and psyllium was better than placebo in treating constipation. |

FDA officials have attacked natural health remedies, outlawed perfectly safe herbs and supplements, and have in fact conspired with drug companies to bury evidence demonstrating the dangers of their FDA-approved pharmaceuticals (among other crimes).
It's time we cleaned house at the FDA and prosecuted the criminals currently in charge there. We need a Nuremberg trial for the FDA where the crimes against humanity that have been committed by the agency are made public and accounted for. |

Because NES works at the level of information and is not biochemical, it is compatible with pharmaceuticals, herbs, supplements, and other healing agents. Clients are counseled to continue their other treatments and to confer with their other health care professionals.
Randolph was eighty years old at the time he sought NES practitioner and naturopathic physician Jason Siczkowycz's assistance. Six months prior, he had been hospitalized with pneumonia, and since that time he had debilitating fatigue. |

Len Horowitz, is just a super, super intelligent, clever and amazing guy, and he's turned on to herbs and natural cures and that kind of thing. On his web site, which is tetrahedron.org, he has a lot of very upfront information about the danger of vaccines. I want to turn that on because the government is into scaring, and people get frightened. They are just corralled into getting a vaccination. We have to be well educated in order to resist that temptation of falling back into old patterns.
Mike: Absolutely, the vaccination industry is a for-profit industry. |

I get regular cancer screenings.
The way I figure, these steps will not only help me avoid cancer but also keep me young and vital. They may do the same for you. Let's look at each one in turn.
Quit Smoking
I gave up cigarettes in 1970. Admittedly, I should have done it sooner. But at least I quit—cold turkey no less, after smoking for 30 years. Believe me: If I can do it, anyone can.
For a while, I did miss the oral gratification of cigarettes. To compensate for it, I began munching on carrot sticks. Not a bad idea, since carrots are rich in cancer-fighting antioxidants. |
Perhaps you've heard that taking V2 to 1 standard aspirin tablet a day can help protect against heart attack. Aspirin helps by making your blood less likely to form the clots responsible for triggering heart attacks as well as ischemic strokes.
But you don't have to take little white pills to get aspirin's active compounds, called salicylates. You'll also find them in willow bark, meadowsweet (queen of the meadow), red (cayenne) pepper, and wintergreen.
In my Garden of Youth, I have three willows, a couple of meadowsweets, and almost too many hot peppers—all bearing prolifically. |
But I do know several respected herbalists who advocate this treatment approach.
Both calendula and mullein have anti-inflammatory properties. Mullein is also antibacterial. To make an oil from either herb, place a handful of chopped plant material into a jar. Add enough olive oil to cover. Put a lid on the jar and store it in a warm place for at least 3 days (some herbalists recommend 2 weeks).
To use the oil, first strain out the plant material, then place a few drops into the affected ear with an eyedropper. Repeat the treatments up to three times a day. |

It's a root, and it is considered one of the top six or seven herbs in the whole Chinese medicinal system, and that's another one that's an immune system modulator. If you need your immune system to go up, it will go up. If you need your immune system to calm down, it will go down. By the way, people will say, "Why do you need your immune system to calm down?" The reason could be allergies and the autoimmune conditions, and those are two situations where you want to tone the immune system down a little bit. |
Mike: I've heard so many good things about Dragon herbs and Ron's work. I keep hearing it from almost everybody I'm talking to. The guy's doing it right.
Wolfe: He's doing it right. It's coming from his heart. He really cares.
Mike: We're going to wrap this up in a couple minutes because I know you have to run out of here, but I'd like your feedback on this comment. I got an email from a doctor who said, "Mike, you're giving people terrible advice. Don't you know that the 1918 bird flu actually killed people who had stronger immune systems? |
Again, I want to reiterate that not everyone is turned on to this kind of thing with natural health and what can be done with herbs. You may take it upon yourself to be prepared for your neighbors. They may be coming to you and saying, "Hey, what do you have, what do you think I should do?" And you're prepared, and what a gift, what an amazing thing to be able to give that gift. What about a neighbor's kids? Do you know what I mean? They've got to be prepared and they don't know. I mean, you can prepare for them even if the parents don't know. |

In other words, the FDA now sees its job as protecting the public from "dangerous" herbs while shirking safety responsibilities on truly dangerous prescription drugs. It's up to the public to decide whether deadly drugs are worth the risk, according to the FDA. But when one herb which has been safely used for 5,000 years in Chinese medicine happens to harm 20 people who overdosed in a mad weight loss frenzy, the FDA bans it "to protect everyone! |

And the disease is only getting worse, since the government departments regulating much of health care (the FDA and others) flatly refuse to allow any genuine discussion of alternative medicine, nutrition, natural health and herbs. In fact, they go out of their way to isolate Americans from the very possibility of learning about true disease prevention, thereby boosting profits of the drug companies that rule Washington.
Prevention, you see, would make people healthy again. |

We eat things, and it's just going in and out, but when you take in these really powerful herbs, it's like a sacrament. We realize how holy these things are, and that they are Mother Nature's gift to us, God's gift to us.
Mike: These ancient healers have so much wisdom, I'm blown away when I go back and study the history of Chinese medicine. They had things figured out 2,000 years ago that we still can't grasp today in the Western world.
Wolfe: I'm right with you on that one, Mike. It's so incredible where these guys were thousands of years ago.
Mike: It's truly amazing. |

I do, frequently recommends ginseng to people of low vitality who have been weakened by old age or chronic illness. Among the Chinese and Koreans, the herb is especially valued as a tonic for the elderly, because it can improve appetite and digestion, tone skin and muscles, and restore depleted sexual energy.
The Chinese generally recommend limiting your use of ginseng until you get older. That's when the herb's tonic benefits kick in. At age 72, I'm almost ready to start taking ginseng regularly. I have four species of the herb growing around my Garden of Youth. |

And there are no signs of change, as the FDA seems wholly committed to protecting Big Pharma's profits by making it more difficult for generic drugs to receive approval (for example), and by continuing to discredit or outlaw herbs and natural medicines that actually prevent disease and make people healthier.
But elsewhere in the world, outright corruption in the health industry simply does not reach such extremes. Citizens of countries throughout Europe, Asia, South America and even New Zealand have far greater access to herbal medicine that really works. |

That it is the herbs and supplements that are the danger to Americans, not the drugs.
John: Yes, and with this adverse event reporting legislation, let's just say that a person calls in, they are on multiple pharmaceutical drugs while simultaneously taking one or more nutrients, and then the burden is being put on the vitamin company to prove that it is not their product. This turns DSHEA upside down if it goes through.
Mike: That is the whole point of it, of course, is to put all the blame on the vitamins. |
Look at the way conventional medicine treats herbs today; they always say the herb interferes with the medication.
John: Well, this is Senator Hatch doing a 180, becoming a traitor looking to stab us in the back. Unless consumers raise bloody hell, and unless we can stir up the grass roots in Utah to get him to back off, we are going to have problems here. We have all the vitamin trade associations in favor of this horrible legislation, and the reason they are is because Big Pharma is dominating them from the top down.
Mike: Yes, that is right. |

The FDA's position now comes down to simply this: Everyone needs to be protected from herbs and nutritional supplements, but no one needs to be protected from prescription drugs.
And this now completes the full reversal of the FDA. The agency now has both feet squarely in Bizarro world.
In doing this, I wonder if the FDA realizes it has made itself irrelevant. If the agency is now merely going to pass through drug safety decisions to doctors and patients, then why do we need the FDA at all? The agency is no longer a gatekeeper. |

He asked me if I had a history of drug abuse, and I did not because I had been an athlete and I did not use street drugs. He said, "Well, you are very lucky. You just might succeed in smuggling these vitamins back into the hospital. But if you get them inside, you better hide them, because if they catch you with them they will confiscate them. |

Mike: I've purchased herbal tinctures from health food stores because I appreciate the taste of the herbs. Sometimes it's not enjoyable, but it's part of the experience. I've purchased products before that really don't have the taste that's supposed to be in them. It's like alcohol or water with absolutely no taste.

The real urgency, however, should be in prevention, because if we could prevent breast cancer now -- which we can do very easily through herbs, nutrition and natural therapies like sunlight -- then we could eliminate the billions of dollars spent on breast cancer treatments, research and chemotherapy and prevent virtually all of the deaths associated with breast cancer in future years.
Naturally, the nonprofit breast cancer front groups never promote urgency in prevention. |

Another herb that I want to mention is one of my favorite herbs and just so dear to my heart: Reishi mushroom.
Mike: Oh, yes. Perfect. I love it.
Wolfe: It's such a great herb. One that everybody should know about, and it really comes out of a long tradition, thousands of years in Chinese medicine. It is known to kill SARS. Reishi mushroom is one of the great immune system supporting substances ever. Generally, if you're out in the forest and you find a wild reishi mushroom, you want to do a tea of it. You bring it home and dry it and make a tea out of it, and that's how you do it. |

Indonesia, in fact, is doing the only rational thing it can: Keep the samples a secret, and avoid allowing the WHO and greedy drug companies to get their hands on them.
This argument about H5N1 samples isn't about public safety, folks. It's about profits. And Big Pharma can't manufacture and sell its useless vaccines unless it has some genetic code to work with. That's the whole reason behind this pressure to force Indonesia to "share" its bird flu samples. |
