 All it did was ban the Ephedra herb, not the Ephedra molecule. Apparently, if you work at the FDA, all herbs are dangerous, while all over-the-counter drugs are perfectly safe, even if those two contain the exact same molecule. That's right: one has been banned, the other remains perfectly legal.
You can bet that in the ongoing campaign to discredit herbs and gain new regulatory power over them, the FDA is going to cite this study about finding heavy metals in a few imported Ayurvedic herbal products. |

 I began teaching herb classes and began an herbal practice in the 1980s. At the time, herbs were rising to fame, and yet it seemed just a substitution for what we were all trying to avoid—the Western medical model. We were taking herbs whose chemical constituents have an effect on the body instead of pharmaceutical drugs that have even a stronger effect on the body. People were taking their herbs and got well for a while, until the illness showed up in another way. Nothing was really changing, especially not consciousness. |

So, yes, I'm an advocate of the Amazon herb Company. But not for the reasons you might have supposed. It's not that they have a great product line, even though they do. It's not that the company is doing a lot of good things for the rainforest, even though that's also true and that's a very important part of their success equation. But I think the primary reason is because it creates a product that has energetic qualities that far surpass any other commercially available nutritional supplement I've ever encountered. |

 So in the future, instead of declaring one particular herb to be useless (after ginning up some meta-data study that mysteriously excludes all the legitimate studies showing the herb to be effective), top medical journals, research scientists and even the FDA will just issue the blanket statement, "All nutritional supplements are no good for anything, trust us."
